The marine protected area
Bordighera has been known since the late 19th century for its clear and deep blue sea.
The marine triangle between the Ligurian coast and the French coast, known as the Sanctuary of Cetaceans, is one of the most populated areas in the Mediterranean and well-known to whale-watching enthusiasts. They can easily spot sperm whales, fin whales, dolphins, and pilot whales in their natural habitat, even with a short boat trip just a few kilometers from the shore.
The seabeds of the marine protected area are rich in animal and plant species, some of which are endangered. With just a mask and snorkel, you can admire the beauty and variety of underwater life in this stretch of sea.
